He wrote and directed the movie Unbroken in that same year. After directing Mr. & Mrs. Smith in 2005, Jolie’s next project was the marriage drama By the Sea (2015), in which she costarred with her ex-husband Brad Pitt.
In addition, Jolie acted in and executive produced the movies The Breadwinner and First They Killed My Father, both released in 2017.
In the critically acclaimed 2019 Disney fantasy sequel Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, Jolie played the character of Maleficent.
